Hope marks a new year;
the possibilities endless for what lies ahead.
Little by little the hopes started to fall.
I thought it’d be better.
I thought it’d be bigger.
I’d hoped there’d be something, but there was nothing at all.
I’d rather have nothing,
than some kind of something
that doesn’t quite fit with the hope that I had.
But if I get nothing,
instead of the something,
turns out that the something I get is just mad.
And when I let nothing
crowd out all the somethings,
turns out that the year ends up all in vain.
But when I look for the somethings
like life, hope and beauty
the year becomes more than just only the pain.
